Along with communication skills, you need to have a good hand at non-verbal communication also. Your body language plays a great role in determining your personality. Rubina Ratnakar helps you in developing a good personality by giving some great body language tips.
Your body language will help you in forming a good impression on all the people you meet. Starting with the first aspect, your body posture plays a vital role in determining your personality. Do not stoop around or take any support while standing as it indicated low confidence and self-esteem. Standing with your head straight, chip up, and back straightened is the best standing posture. To build a good personality, you should have a good walk too. You should always walk in a confident and relaxed manner. Don’t panic or run around here and there. Walk at a moderate speed that is neither too fast nor too slow. Talking about the sitting posture, your body language while sitting says a lot about your mindset. While sitting in a professional environment always sit straight, taking a good amount of space, with your back straight and your hands placed on the table. Do not cross your arm while sitting or your legs crossed as they indicate a defensive attitude. Avoid moving while sitting; try to take up a stable position. Adjusting your chair again and again or tapping your foot indicates nervousness.
Along with a stable body posture you need to maintain stable eye contact too. You need to make good eye contact while speaking and while listening as well. Many people think it is really difficult and awkward to look at someone’s eyes while talking. But in actuality, when we are not able to make eye contact with the person, it shows a lack of interest and lack of confidence as well. Always dress up in a decent manner, you should never be overdressed or underdressed for an occasion. Practice your handshake a number of times to pull up the right way. You should not be holding someone’s hand for a long time, too tightly or too firmly. Your body language says a lot about your mindset so work on it.
