We start learning about discipline right from childhood. Behaving in the right way is what is the basic idea behind discipline. We were taught about carrying ourselves in a controlled and pleasant manner. In schools, we abide by the school discipline, but we need to develop self-discipline for our own benefit. In this blog, Rubina Ratnakar lists some tips for developing self-discipline.
Self-discipline is all about controlling yourself. You will not be able to control yourself if your mind isn’t at peace and wandering around here and there all the time. For inducing self-discipline in your life, you need to have a peaceful mind. Once you are able to control all that, you can proceed with the activities you have to do.
Remove all the things that distract you from your goals. There are many things that will stop you from doing the right thing. Some of them can be distraction by our mobile phones, distraction caused by lack of organization of one’s timetable, and one’s lack of knowledge about the task he is doing.
If you want to take control of all the tasks you do and the way you behave you need to treat yourself as an employee. If you want to get your work done by someone there are many things you need to do. You need to motivate them, reward them, and make them work in a comfortable way as well. Design a timetable that is suitable for you and give proper breaks in between to relax. Self-care will definitely contribute to self-discipline.
If you are not able to stand up to your expectations you should not stress over it a lot. You are a human, and all of us make mistakes or fail at some time in our life. This is completely normal and you should not feel bad about yourself. Stay in good spirits and try to task again with more determination and zest.
