When you are working with a number of teammates or when you have a lot of employees working under you, there is more needed from you rather than giving a good performance. If you have to get your work done by someone you need to be good at it. Not everyone is going to follow you if you can’t communicate and distribute it well. At some time or the other, everyone is a nascent leader and needs some tips to get on the right track. In this blog, Rubina Ratnakar helps you in learning delegation.
We will start with something really good we read somewhere ‘Employees don’t leave their company, they leave their boss!’ Well, this is quite true! A good boss knows how to get work done by his employees and keep them happy and content as well.
The first thing you need to learn is to trust your team and know more about your team members. Get to know more about them and assign them the tasks accordingly. Start giving small tasks to them at first and then proceed further.
Divide the tasks into different categories on the basis of their level of priority. Your categories should be named, Urgent and Important, Not urgent but important, Not important but urgent, and not important not urgent. Divide the tasks into these categories and then assign them to the teammates.
If any of your members don’t know a skill, go ahead and teach them. It is no less for the leader to step up and boost his team’s morale by teaching new skills to the team himself. Work with your team and get things done.
You need to keep a check on everybody’s performance. Trusting employees should be accompanied by verifying that they are working well.
Always make room for feedback from the employees. You will get an idea about how well your delegation is working and what changes you need to make the next time.
